Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland
This course is offered on the campus of Lithuania Christian College and International University in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Students can earn sophomore literature credit for the academic core by signing up for ENGL 2336 – Global Perspectives. By arrangement, English majors and minors may receive credit for ENGL 3335 – Contemporary Global Literature.
This distinct learning experience includes:
- Travel to and from the Baltics
- Three-week academic term (four hours per day taught by Ñ©ÀæÉçÇø faculty)
- Weekend excursions to various sites - all Baltics capitals, Palanga, Hill of Crosses, Krakow, Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, etc.
- Possible service-learning opportunities with local churches
Features
- Explore literature and film of the period from 1850 to the present, with special attention to dissident literature of the Cold-War era.
- Discover the region that marks the divide between western and eastern Christianity.
- Gain an appreciation for foreign lifestyles and traditions through an interrelation with different languages, cultures, and customs.
Program Details
- Cost: $6,100 (tentative)
- Includes round-trip airfare, lodging, group meals, in-country transportation, and admission to all museums/sites.
- Scholarships ($2,500), will be awarded to students admitted into the program (an application is required), reducing the trip fee to $3,600 plus Ñ©ÀæÉçÇø tuition for a three-credit course.
- A passport is required.
- Required orientation sessions and Ñ©ÀæÉçÇø safety/health briefings are required prior to departure. These will take place during the spring semester prior to the trip.
